Budgets, percentages and units with the calculation sheet
Using variables, percentages, "sum" and unit conversion in the Numixa sheet: calculations written line by line, each with its result beside it.
On a calculator, intermediate results disappear from the display. On the calculation sheet in the Numixa application, by contrast, each line is calculated separately and its result appears next to the line. Calculations are done and stored on this device.
Line-by-line calculation
In the Sheet section, each line holds one calculation. Example:
rent = $1,850rent × 125 km in mi
The first line defines a variable; later lines use it by name. Clicking a line's result copies it.
Percentages
Percentage expressions are read as in everyday use:
200 + 18%gives 236 (the amount including VAT).200 - 18%gives 164 (the discounted amount).18% × 200gives 36 (the percentage itself).
Amounts marked with ₺, €, $, £, ¥ and R$ are written in that currency's format. Currency conversion is not performed; current exchange rates would require an internet connection.
Sum and previous result
- A line with "sum" adds up the results down to the blank line above it. So each block separated by a blank line gets its own sum.
- Only lines of the same kind are added; a line such as "5 km" mixed in among amounts is not included.
- "prev" is the result of the previous line.
- Lines starting with # are notes and are not calculated.
Units
Lines such as "38 m² in ft²" or "180 cm in ft" convert units. Length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, data, time, angle, energy and pressure are supported. To see all the equivalents of a value, use the converter in the Units section.
Keeping sheets
Several sheets are kept and chosen from the Sheets menu. To see how lines are written, the Example sheet can be opened. A sheet is written to a .txt file with Save as text….
The decimal separator follows the selected language: in English, "1,250.5" is read as one thousand two hundred fifty point five.
