Principles
Why should your files stay on your device?
FigBell applications process files in the browser or on your computer without uploading them to a server. Here is what that means and what the exceptions are.
Merging a PDF, cropping a photo or opening an archive should not require sending the file to someone else's computer. FigBell applications do this work on your device.
What does "running on the device" mean?
When you open a FigBell application in the browser, the application itself is downloaded; your files are neither downloaded nor uploaded. When you open a file, the browser reads it only on this device, and editing, converting and saving also take place on this device.
- No uploads to a server. The contents of the file never go to FigBell or to any other service.
- No account. You do not need to register or sign in to use an application.
- Works without an internet connection. Once an application has been opened or installed, it also opens without a connection.
- No analytics or tracking. The applications contain no tools that count visitors or track behaviour.
Why does it matter?
Files are often personal: contracts, invoices, copies of ID documents, business presentations. Once a file is uploaded to a server, where it is stored, who can access it and when it is deleted are no longer under your control. For a file that is never uploaded, these questions never arise.
Speed matters too: there is no waiting for a large file to be uploaded and then downloaded again. The work is done where the file is.
How does saving work?
In Chrome, Edge and Opera, a file can be saved directly to the place it was opened from. In Safari and Firefox, the saved file is provided as a download. So that unsaved changes are not lost even if the page closes, they are kept as a draft in the browser's storage on this device.
Exceptions
Some tasks by their nature require connecting to the outside world. This happens only through an action of yours or a setting you have left on, and each case is listed on the product pages and in the privacy policy:
- Cirrela retrieves weather data from Open-Meteo; the only things sent are the city name you search for and the coordinates of the locations you add.
- Keyvera, Konsela and Endvia connect only to the servers and addresses you enter; these connections do not pass through FigBell.
- In Pictava, when you choose a Google Fonts typeface, the font is downloaded from Google; this can be turned off in the settings.
- In Melvona, a radio stream you have added is connected to only when you start playing it.
This website collects visit statistics only if you give consent in the cookie notice. The applications do not do even that.
Conclusion
A tool's job is to do something with your file, not to take your file. That is why FigBell applications process your files where they are: on your device.
