Moving your calendar to Dateva with an .ics file
How to import an .ics file from Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook into Dateva and export calendars again as .ics.
Dateva requires no account; events are stored only on this device, in the browser's storage. Events from another calendar application are moved with iCalendar (.ics), the file format that calendar applications share.
Importing
- Export the calendar from the calendar application you use as an .ics file. Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook provide this file.
- In Dateva, select the file with File › Import .ics file (Ctrl/⌘ O). The file can also be imported by dragging it onto the window.
- Each .ics file is added as a new calendar. The calendar's name is taken from the calendar name in the file, or otherwise from the file name; it is given a new colour.
- The number of imported events is reported.
Time zones, all-day events, recurrence rules, recurrence exceptions and reminders are read from the file. The calendar's name and colour are changed with Edit calendar in the calendar's options in the sidebar.
Exporting
- A single calendar is saved with Export (.ics) in its options in the sidebar.
- All calendars are saved in a single file with File › Export all calendars (.ics).
This file can be imported into Dateva on another device or into another calendar application. Because events are kept only in this browser's storage, the exported file is also a backup; exporting your calendars before clearing browser data is recommended.
No syncing
Dateva does not sync with Google, iCloud or Exchange accounts and does not support calendars subscribed to by address. To get changes again, the file is imported again. When the same file is imported a second time, it is added as a separate calendar; to avoid duplicates, the old calendar can first be removed with Delete calendar. This cannot be undone.
Reminders
A notification is shown when an event starts or a set time before. Reminders are shown only while the application or its tab is open.
Dateva opens right away in the browser.
