Frequently asked questions
Does Dockela connect to the internet?
No. The app has no internet permission; Android does not allow an app without this permission to connect to a network. This can be verified in Android settings under Apps › Dockela › Permissions.
How is it made the default home screen, and how can the previous one be restored?
The first-run setup makes Dockela the default home screen. To go back, another home screen app is chosen in the default apps section of Android settings; the layout in Dockela is not deleted.
Can icon packs be used?
Yes. ADW- and Nova-compatible icon packs (appfilter.xml) installed on the device are listed under Settings › Icons; a single app's icon can also be picked from a pack.
What data does the Screen time card use?
With Android's usage access permission, the card reads today's screen time, the number of unlocks and the most used apps on the device; the data is not stored and not sent anywhere. The card is optional; the permission is granted in Android settings and can be withdrawn there.
Can the layout be moved to a new phone?
Under Settings › Backup, the whole layout and all settings are saved to a single file (.dockela-backup); on the new device it is restored during first-run setup or from the settings. Android asks for permission again for widgets.
Is there a trial version?
No. Dockela is purchased once from Google Play; there is no subscription and no in-app purchase. A refund can be requested through Google Play within 14 days, without giving a reason.

Known limitations
Functions not supported in the current version.
- Works on Android only (Android 8.0 or later); there is no web, desktop, iPhone or iPad version.
- On tablets, the system taskbar appears only in the device's own home screen app; Dockela keeps the dock wide instead.
- The layout of another home screen app is brought in only if it can be read; otherwise a suggested layout is used.
- Widget contents are not included in backups; when widgets are restored, Android asks for permission again for each one.
