Features

Type a script, paste it or import it from a file; choose "Go on stage" and it scrolls in large type on a black background at a set number of words per minute. It waits at pause markers and dims what has been read; the time estimate and rehearsal history show whether the talk fits the time.

Key features

Full-screen stage
Large type on a black background; the script scrolls by time at the chosen pace (60–240 words per minute), unaffected by the screen's frame rate. Reading line and its position, dimming of text already read, a countdown before starting.
Pauses, emphasis, sections
"Pause · N s" markers can be shortened, lengthened or removed; on stage, the scroll waits N seconds at a marker or until resumed. Emphasis appears in bold; section headings are shown as "Section n / m", and the stage can stop at each section.
Time estimate and target
Word count and the estimated duration at the chosen pace (pauses included); with a duration target, the time to spare or the overrun is shown. The longest sentence is pointed out as well.
Keyboard, page turner, touch
Space pauses, ↑ ↓ change the speed, ← → and PgUp / PgDn move by paragraph; Bluetooth page turners work without any setup. The wheel and dragging move forward or back, and a tap pauses.
Mirroring and legibility
Horizontal or vertical mirror for a glass teleprompter rig; text size, margins and line spacing are adjustable, and + / − enlarge the text on stage too. The screen stays on while the stage is running.
Rehearsal history
Every reading on stage is recorded with its start time, the time read (paused time is not counted), whether the end was reached and how it compares with the target; the average of completed rehearsals is shown.
Import
TXT, Markdown and DOCX (paragraphs, bold text and paragraphs in heading styles) are read on the device; new script from the clipboard and drag and drop. Scripts can be searched, renamed and duplicated.
Editor
Paragraph-by-paragraph editing; Enter splits a paragraph, Backspace joins it with the previous one. "Plain text" for bulk editing: # section, **emphasis**, [⏸ 2] pause.
Export and share
A script or the whole library is saved as an .oratelo file; a script is exported as TXT or PDF and shared with the device's own share feature.
Samples
On first launch there is a launch speech, a weekly video, a wedding toast and presentation notes; the samples can be edited or deleted, and "Add samples again" brings them back.
Backup and offline
"Back up…" puts all scripts, rehearsals and settings into a single file, and "Restore from backup…" brings them back on the same or another device. No account is needed; it works offline.

Devices and browsers

  • On a desktop, scripts are on the left, the editor in the middle and the stage settings on the right. On a phone and a tablet in portrait, the bottom bar holds Script, Scripts, Stage and More.
  • The stage opens full screen; on a narrow screen the text shrinks to fit.
  • Bluetooth page turners usually send PgUp / PgDn or arrow keys; no setup is needed on stage.
  • Keeping the screen on works where the device and browser support it; otherwise its setting is hidden.
