Features

Articles, books, theses and web sources are sorted into collections and tags, with notes and PDF attachments kept beside each item. Bibliographies for the selected items are formatted in six styles and in every language of the app and copied with formatting.

Key features

Citation styles
APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago (author-date), Harvard, IEEE and Vancouver. The bibliography is copied with formatting (italics preserved); the in-text citation can also be copied separately.
Bibliography language
Fixed words such as "and", "et al.", "n.d." and "pp." are chosen independently of the interface language, from any language Ibidex is available in.
Import and export
BibTeX (@string, LaTeX accents, corporate authors), RIS and CSL JSON files are imported; duplicates (same DOI, or same title and year) are skipped. The selection or the whole list exports in the same formats.
Items from PDFs
When a PDF is added, its title, authors, year and the DOI on its first pages are read on the device; the PDF is kept as an attachment.
Collections and tags
Items are dragged onto collections or added from the menu; tags act as filters in the sidebar.
Notes and attachments
Notes and any files can be attached to each item; attachments open in a new tab or can be saved.
Forms by type
Journal articles, books, chapters, conference papers, theses, reports and web pages show the relevant fields; the citation key (demir2021stratified) is generated automatically.
Search and sorting
Search titles, authors, years, tags and notes; sort by title, author, year, type or date added.
Recently deleted
Deleted items can be restored for 30 days.

Devices and browsers

  • On desktop, the sidebar, reference table and detail panel sit side by side; on phones details open in a bottom sheet.
  • The table works with the keyboard: arrow keys move, ⇧ extends the selection.
  • Formatted copying is supported in Chrome, Edge and Safari; other browsers copy plain text.
