Features
Choose a root and a chord and the sound plays without a break; you tune your instrument or voice against it. In just intonation the beating disappears when a note settles into place. Sounds are generated on the device; no account or internet connection is needed.
Key features
- Root and chord
- The root is chosen on the circle of fifths; it plays a single note, a fifth, major, minor, sus2, sus4 or a custom chord with intervals you choose. It can be shifted an octave up or down.
- Just and equal temperament
- In just intonation the intervals are built on exact ratios from the root, and the app shows how many cents they differ from equal temperament; equal temperament matches the piano and fretted instruments.
- Layers
- The root, the chord tones and the lower and upper octaves are separate layers; each can be switched on or off and has its own volume.
- Timbres
- Tanpura, organ, strings, soft pad, ney and pure sine. Brightness, master volume and fade-in / fade-out time are adjustable.
- Cycling
- The root moves round the circle of fifths, chromatically or through the preset list at a set interval (seconds or minutes), or manually with the N key.
- Reference
- The A4 frequency is adjustable (e.g. 415 baroque, 440 standard, 442–443 for many orchestras).
- Presets
- Frequently used sounds are saved as presets, reordered and recalled with one tap. The list is exported as a file and brought to another device. Tanpura, organ, strings and rast examples are included.
- Note names
- The spelling of note names (e.g. C D E or Do Re Mi) is selectable.
Devices and browsers
- On phones the play screen and the sound settings open on separate screens with bottom navigation.
- On tablets and desktops the sound settings are beside the play screen.
