Features
Notes are saved as you type, sorted into folders, found by #tags and organised with checklists and tables. They are stored in the browser or as .md files in a folder you choose.
Key features
- Formatted writing
- Headings, bold, italic, lists, quotes and code blocks. Markdown shortcuts turn into formatting as you type: "# " for a heading, "- " for a bullet, "1. " for a numbered list.
- Checklists
- Tickable items are added from the toolbar or with Ctrl/⌘ ⇧ L; completed items are struck through.
- Tables
- Tables can be inserted into a note; Tab moves between cells.
- Images
- Images are added from the toolbar, the Format menu, by pasting or by dragging; they are not embedded in the note but kept as separate files in an attachments/ folder next to the notes, linked from the note with a relative Markdown link. Images from external web addresses are not loaded.
- Folders and tags
- Notes are sorted into folders. #tags in the text are listed in the sidebar; selecting a tag shows the notes that carry it.
- Search
- Searches titles and text across all notes; results narrow as you type.
- .md files in a folder
- When a folder is connected, every note is a Markdown file, and renaming the title renames the file. The files can also be opened in other editors (Chrome, Edge, Opera).
- Pinning and date groups
- Important notes are pinned to the top; the rest are grouped as Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 days and so on.
- Recently deleted
- Deleted notes can be restored for 30 days, after which they are removed automatically.
- Import and export
- .md and .txt files are imported as notes; a note can be saved as an .md file.
- Links
- A link can be added to selected text; typed web addresses become links automatically.
Devices and browsers
- On desktop, folders, the note list and the editor sit side by side; on phones a single pane is shown.
- In Chrome, Edge and Opera, notes can be kept as .md files in a chosen folder.
- In Safari and Firefox, notes are stored in the browser's own storage and can be saved one by one as .md.
